Former Australian Cricketer Glenn McGrath inaugurates an indoor stadium at Chennai, India

August 20, 2015,  Chennai : Former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath inaugurated a multi-purpose indoor stadium at Madras Christian College (MCC), Tambaram on Thursday.

While addressing the gathering, he said, sports played a big part of his life and mentioned Chennai as his second home.

Speaking about  his role at the MRF Foundation, “It has been a wonderful couple of years for me at the MRF Pace Foundation. I now eagerly look forward to working with India’s best at the Foundation. Our facilities compare favourably with the best in the world and I am looking forward to this challenge,”
He urged the students of MCC  to make the best out of the  facilities provided by their college and work hard with a positive attitude, which would help them be successful in their career.

The multi-purpose  indoor stadium includes a basketball court, four shuttle courts and a volleyball court.Yet another volleyball court to be included soon.

James Zachariah, the Head of Physical Education Department, MCC, said that the stadium is up to international standards. The stadium is well-lit and has been covered with a daylight panel accompanied by turbo-exhaust fans, which enables the stadium to host day-night games too.

Principal of MCC  Alexander Jesudasan gave the inaugural speech, Mr.Sundaraj, Bursar introduced the chief guest to the gathering, Director of Physical education J.M. Viswanath gave the descriptive speech  and felicitation speech was given by Mr.K.M. Mammen, the Chairman and managing director of MRF Limited, who is also the head of the MCC Alumni.
